Angles of History Workshop - First Wed of month Feb-Dec (except summer)
Time & Location
About the Event
We are inviting you to join a small group of between 8-12 people who will meet once a month to collectively process the impact of historical Jewish trauma and the ways Jews have responded to this. Delving into the impact of these histories, we hope to bring more awareness to the dynamics of power both within ourselves and in the world.
We also want to support how Jewishness issues intersect with topics such as racism towards BIPOC, sexual orientation, gender, economic privilege, class and disability.
Each session will be focused around a particular topic which will provide a stimulus for exploration. We would like to offer two cycles of Us and the World and the third cycle of survival strategies.
Us and the World
Holocaust, Expulsions, Inquisition
Diaspora and Zionism
Good Jew, Bad Jew
Open Forum & Sikkum
We will be holding three open forums as part of the series. During these, we will creatively address current conflicts and political hotspots which are informed by historical trauma.
How Angels of History runs
We will be exploring these issues together through a group facilitation method called Processwork. This encourages an engagement with your body as well as our dreams and the different roles that we carry within us. We will try to activate all of our senses by using storytelling, writing, drawing, music, movement and a connection to our inner feelings.
Who is it for?
All people with Jewish ancestors are affected in some way by the history of Jewish trauma. We welcome anyone who identifies as having Jewish ancestry, in all its diversity. If you have any access needs, please let us know.
When and where?
The series will be run between 6:30 and 8:30 pm on three Wednesdays per cycle, for three cycles.
